On Thursday I was lucky enough to spend some time on the sunny, if breezy beach at the Bay of Skaill. I was not alone there being many families out enjoying the sun. Not least the Arctic tern families, discovered when I accidentally walked near an unseen chick resting on the beach, only to be bombarded from above. Beating a hasty retreat to the rocks I sat down, which seemed to stop me being a threat, and watched the chicks for a couple of hours- a real treat.
