I find the view of Hoy from mainland Orkney a very evocative one that dominates the landscapes. So I have started a search to try and find the view that really captures that emotion for me.

I started with the view over the Loch of Stenness from behind the Ring of Brodgar, as its a view I often see driving to and from the Bay of Skaill.

These images were taken over the sunset hour on 4th February. I converted the images to black and white using Silver Efex Pro 2.

I I think I got more carried away with the sky in the end rather than the hills of Hoy, and it did end up with a beautiful one.
